Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority Medical Examination

At the Aerospace Medical and Training Centre, we conduct comprehensive Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) Medical Examinations for pilots, cabin crew, air traffic controllers, and drone pilots. FAA Medical Examination

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Medical Examination is a comprehensive health assessment designed to ensure that aviation personnel meet the rigorous physical and mental fitness standards required for safe and effective performance. At Aerospace Medical and Training Centre, we are designated to perform FAA Medical Examinations for pilots, air traffic controllers, and other aviation professionals.

This examination aligns with FAA regulations, emphasizing the importance of health and safety in aviation operations. The evaluation assesses an individual’s ability to safely perform aviation duties without compromising their health or the safety of others. 

Scope of the FAA Medical Examination

⁠Medical History Review

A thorough evaluation of the individual’s medical history, including any previous illnesses, surgeries, medications, and family history.

Anthropometric Measurements

Height, weight, and Body Mass Index (BMI) calculations to ensure physical fitness.

Vision Examination

Tests for visual acuity, Color vision, and depth perception, ensuring the applicant meets FAA vision standards.

⁠Hearing Examination

Audiometric assessment to confirm normal hearing levels essential for communication in aviation environments.

⁠Cardiovascular Assessment

Evaluation of heart health, including checking for hypertension, arrhythmias, and other cardiac conditions.

⁠Neurological Examination

Screening for neurological conditions that could impair performance, including coordination, reflexes, and mental alertness.

Respiratory Examination

Lung function assessment to ensure adequate oxygenation at altitude.

Psychological Evaluation

Screening for mental health conditions, stress management, and overall psychological well-being.

⁠Laboratory Testing

Urinalysis: Testing for glucose, protein, and other indicators of systemic health.

Blood Tests: Screening for hemoglobin levels, blood sugar, and other relevant parameters.

Chest X-ray

Certification Levels

The FAA Medical Examination offers three classes of certification, depending on the applicant’s role:

1. First-Class: Required for airline transport pilots; the highest medical standard.

2. Second-Class: Required for commercial pilots.

3. Third-Class: Required for private pilots and recreational aviators.
